Afera Tape College 2016 Event Editorial by Dr. Michael Gerstenberger
My colleague and I think the Tape College was very informative and included all the information that someone working with tapes should know.

Held in Europe’s capital every two years, Afera’s well-established technical learning event is unique to the European adhesive tape industry. It is a popular, two-day educational seminar designed to provide anyone connected with the tape business with the chance to learn or brush up on the fundamentals and technical essentials of adhesive tape. During this back-to-school experience, industry experts educate you on the basic principles involved in the formulation, manufacture, application and testing of adhesive tapes. The line-up also covers the most current global and European regulatory issues.
Tuned to suit a growing audience of first-time participants, the Tape college is open to all adhesive-tape-related industry professionals—Afera members and non-members alike. Whether you are affiliated with a manufacturer, raw materials or machine supplier, distributer, converter, end user, or research institution, the Tape College provides you with a solid overview of the technologies in the tape business. R&D, customer/technical service, sales, marketing, engineering, production, processing, and quality assurance personnel in particular will benefit greatly from this course, as well as general management.
The Tape College offers a high-quality programme of 14, 45-minute lectures, 4 panel discussions, and opportunity for networking. Building on the great success of past events, Afera has responded to audience feedback by maintaining the work- and travel-friendly format introduced in 2012: starting Monday at lunchtime and finishing Wednesday after lunch. Afera also updates its standardised content to reflect relevant technical, market, and regulatory developments.
For future events, Afera is experimenting with incorporating local mechanical, design, and electronics engineering students as attendees and possibly hosts. Engaging with the workforce of the next generation will bring the Association one step closer to its ultimate goal of putting adhesive tape on the syllabi of higher educational engineering programmes in Europe.
